Client Grievance Policy & Procedure

    If you are dissatisfied with the manner or quality of legal assistance provided to you by this office, you may ask the director of the office to review what was one in your case.  Ask for this review in writing.  Tell us why you are unhappy with our services.  Make this request within ten (10) working days from the time you knew of the problem.  (Let us know if you think you have a good reason for taking longer than ten days.)  The office director will review your case and respond to you in writing within ten (10) working days.

 

    If you disagree with the office director's decision, you may ask for another review by the program's Executive Director.  As for this review by writing to the Executive Director at the address listed at the end of this section.  Make this request within fifteen (15) working days from the time you received the office director's decision.  (Let us know if you think you have a good reason for taking longer than fifteen days.)  The Executive Director will respond to you within thirty (30) days after receiving your request.

 

    If you disagree with the Executive Director's decision, you may ask for another review by the Grievance Committee of the Board of Directors of Legal Aid Services of Oregon.  Ask for this review by writing to the Grievance Committee at the address listed at the end of this section.  Make this request within fifteen (15) working days from the time you received the Executive Director's response.  (Let us know if you think you have a good reason for taking longer than fifteen days.)  You may send a written statement to the Grievance Committee or you may present your complaint in person.  Another person may come with you if you wish.  THe Grievance Committee will give prompt consideration to your complaint; the Committee's decision is the final step in this grievance process.

 

    You may ask that your written complaint be included in a file kept by Legal Aid Services of Oregon.  The legal aid office is required to help you write a brief statement if you ask for this assistance.

 

    If you have received services through a contract between Northwest Senior and Disability Services (NWSDS) and Legal Aid Services of Oregon, you may also contact NWSDS at P. O. Box 12189, Salem, OR  97309-0189.
